The Career Match function provides important information about what roles currently suit you (prior to you undertaking any further self development activities) and what these roles entail; Detailed career-specific information across:

  • Main: overview of the education, related experience and job training required.
  • Tasks: what you will be responsible for.
  • Tools & technology: that you'll typically be expected to be proficient in using.
  • Knowledge: the level understanding required for key areas pertaining to the role.
  • Skills and abilities: necessary to excelling in the role.
  • Work activities: what you'll typically be expected to do on a regular basis.
  • Work context: the environment you'll typically be expected to operate in.
  • Styles, values and interests: the relative importance of different attributes, values and interests typically associated with the role.

The 1200+ careers and job descriptions on the Cognisess platform are sourced from 2 different areas. The basis for the careers is formed by aggregated expert ratings on what makes someone successful in a particular career path from the world’s most comprehensive careers and workforce dataset O*NET (The Occupational Information Network ) – one of the primary source for information on occupations and workforce.

For many of these careers, we have then enriched these ratings of highly regarded experts, which are relied on by millions of people every year, by merging the ratings with our objective scores and profilers that have been machine learned from our hundreds of millions of data points on human performance, behaviour, and talent on the system.

The careers section is therefore a mixture of ratings of highly experienced experts in the relevant fields, and objective evidence as to ‘what best looks like’ in the sectors at this point in time, based on our experience and information. Both, O*NET and the Cognisess performance information, are constantly being updated, as they are key to keeping the workforce of today equipped for the demands of tomorrow.

Identifying and developing skills in MBA students
University of Bath MBA students completed Cognisess assessments as part of their programme of study. Being successful in business requires certain entrepreneurial skills and qualities, and Cognisess allows some of these abilities to be measured in order to increase student self-awareness and professors’ knowledge of those they teach. Gender differences in a long term multi-school study
Nearly 400 students from seven schools in Victoria, Australia, completed Cognisess assessments in the Cognisess Learn baseline in order to understand individual potential and to increase student and teacher engagement. The assessments evaluated cognition, expression recognition (a determinant of emotional intelligence), personality, and innate skills. The students also completed the Big Five Questionnaire for Children as a validation measure for Cognisess’ personality questionnaire for older children and adolescents, The Lens Student.
